The next step of The Chicago Plan history. On 2016 Clean Feed Records edited the first album of The Chicago Plan, a quartet co-lead by Steve Swell and Gebhard Ullmann. A lineup features Steve Swell on trombone, Gebhard Ullmann on tenor and bass clarinet, Fred Lonberg Holm on cello and electronics, and Michael Zerang on drums!
In their new album, a celebration of a decade of friendship and musicianship, they resolved to expand their concept of sound and rhythm through approaches that lead to new possibilities. The music has freer, more outside passages, but also seems to often hold on to some sort of structure.
