Jeśli pamiętacie mocny, charakterystyczny głos zespołu rockowego Blood, Sweat and Tears to dwie najnowsze płyty (stydyjna i koncertowa) jego właściciela nie pozostawią was obojętnymi. David Clayton-Thomas, bo o nim mowa to postać legendarna, charyzmatyczny wokalista amerykańskiej grupy, bez której można to śmiało powiedzieć bylibyśmy w innym miejscu muzycznego wszechświata. Rodzący się w latach 60-tych jazz-rock pokazał, że przenikanie się gatunków rodzi zupełnie nową jakość. Blood, Sweat and Tears to jedna z czołowych grup tego gatunku, zaskakujące, że zachowawcze zazwyczaj jury nagrody GRAMMY poznało się na geniuszu zespołu i w 1970 roku za płytę 'Blood, Sweat & Tears' przyznało nagrodę Album of the Year w ramach nagród Grammy za 1969 rok. Ten drugi w dyskografii zespołu album zawierał m.in.. Przebojowe utwory: 'You've Made Me So Very Happy', 'Spinning Wheel' i 'And When I Die'.
Na koncertowej płycie wyżej wymienionych utworów nie mogło zabraknąć, nowe wykonania przynoszą atomową wręcz dawkę energii.
Przez zespół przewinęło się sporo jazzowych sław, m.in.. Randy Brecker, Lew Soloff, Jaco Pastorius, Steve Khan, Mike Stern czy Don Alias. [multikulti.com]

(...) Blessed with a great voice, this Canadian singer found fame in 1969 with the jazz-rock band, Blood Sweat &Tears. It's a treat to hear him return to his roots in this intimate jazz context. The band kick starts the soulful original, "Mercy Lord Above" into a consumate groove that shows the singer in his element. The mood changes dramatically when his anguished vibrato conveys the vulnerability of Billie Holiday's "Don't Explain" "Lazy Bones" is an inspired choice, a standard that suits his strengths. Ex-Blood, Sweat & Tears vocalist and front man David Clayton-Thomas is one of the most influential singers of our time. He's spent more than four decades on the road, played everything from one-room beer joints to the Metropolitan Opera, and performed with everyone from John Lee Hooker to Aretha Franklin. Heading Blood, Sweat & Tears, he's sold millions of records and collected several Grammy statuettes, in 1996, he was inducted into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame.
Last summer David returned to Toronto to record Aurora with a top-notch quartet, turning to long-time friend Doug "Doc" Riley to co-produce the album, and spending months going over material: jazz standards, blues, Louis Armstrong, Hoagy Carmichael and Billie Holiday tracks and even Joni Mitchell material. With Terry Clarke, George Koller, Rob Piltch and Jake Langley, the pair have delivered a splendid collection: Aurora features the standards "Moonlight In Vermont", "Don't Explain" "Lazy Bones," and "Lucky Old Sun." Performances are as touching and evocative as anything David has ever recorded, and we're convinced listeners will agree this recording shows a veteran artist at the peak of his powers.
