Pisząc o McKenzie'm używa się określeń "powerhouse" i "master of deep-pocket hip hop, funk, jazz and rock". Ma za sobą emocjonującą współpracę z Markiem Ribotem, Roswellem Ruddem, ale także z muzykami ze nowojorskiej sceny hip hop i R&B jak Pharoahe Monch, P.Diddy, Grave Diggaz, New Kingdom, DJ Spinna, Mr. Complex, Martin Luther, Cody ChesnuTT, Polyrhythm Addicts i legend R&B - Sweetback, The Persuaders.

Nowojorska oficyna 577 Records przedstawia płytę "Silenced II - Views from the Auction Block", a na niej duety z giarzystą Wilco - Nelsem Cline'm, legendą gitary basowej - Billem Laswellem i Vernonem Reidem, z którym McKenzie gra w zespole Masque.

Już od czasu legendarnej sesji z 1967 roku "Interstellar Space" Johna Coltrane'a i Rashieda Ali, formuła duetowa w muzyce improwizowanej nabrał nowej wartości. Wiele było później duetów, jednak niewiele przeszło do historii muzyki. Nowe nagranie McKenzie'go, z utytułowanymi kolegami to mocny punkt na mapie improwizowanych duetów.

Płytę rozpoczyna "Ramarley Graham", duet z weteranem awangardowej gitary Elliottem Sharpem. Mamy tu do czynienia z czymś więcej niż nową odsłoną klasycznego free jazzu, z jednej strony wyraźne wycieczki w stronę brudnego psychodelicznego bluesa Milesa Davisa z czasów "A Tribute to Jack Johnson", z drugiej rozpadające się drony i ciężki groove wyprowadzają muzykę w artystyczne zaświaty.
Następnie "Natasha McKenna" z Billem Laswellem. Wrażenie chaosu narasta, jednak obaj panowie z kocią zwinnością zaprowadzają porządek tam, gdzie przeciętne ucho słyszy jedynie chaos.
Kolejny to solowy "Akai Gurley", McKenzie udowadnia, że posiadł ezoteryczną wiedzę na temat panowania nad instrumentem, niczym człowiek orkiestra przekonuje słuchacza, że formotwórczy rytm potrafi mieć atomową siłę rażenia. Przy tym te wszystkie szarże nie są wcale pustymi technicznymi zabawami.
Na koniec "Elektra Jagger McKenzie" z Vernonem Reidem. Gęsta anarchistyczna psychodelia, ciężki groove, spazmatyczna gitara uruchamiają w słuchaczach pierwotną energię.

Wydany na limitowanym winylu (tylko 300 kopii) "Silenced II - Views from the Auction Block" jest niczym rzut oka w zenitujące słońce, ta muzyka przytłacza wyobraźnią, wirtuozerią i poziomem emocjonalnego przekazu!

“Ramarley Graham is the first tune of Silenced II, and it features Elliott Sharp. It is one of those performances that, when I listen back, I think someone else is playing drums. That’s how great it sounds, to me. It sounds so good, it just has to be someone else playing drums. The Holy Spirit must have been in the room that day. Elliott and I have been playing for many many years. He’s iconic. He's an idol of mine and was Cecil Taylor’s favorite guitar player. One take.

Bill Laswell and I created a soundscape that is moody and guttural at the same time. I am in shock and awe that he chooses to consistently perform with me as well as use me as a hired drummer on his productions. One take.

I always want to sound like a piano, when I play solos. Hence my expansive drum set with an array of tones. My kit gives me this. It’s on full display in Akai Gurley.

Elektra Jagger McKenzie, the last composition on the LP, features my frequent music collaborator, Vernon Reid. It’s an homage to my daughter”

His career has led him to tour and record with an impressive list of music legends including Vernon Reid, James Blood Ulmer, Bill Laswell, Marc Ribot, P.Diddy, Gravediggaz, Pharoahe Monch, Mr. Complex, Martin Luther, Cody Chesnutt, and The Persuaders.
