The New Jungle Orchestra is known across the jazz zodiac for their captivating concerts, where the audience experiences, that time is bending, and the stage and audience are fused into one. Thousands of successful concerts in more than 60 countries for emperors and kings and in small dirty jazz clubs as well as large international festivals have cemented their position.
The New Jungle Orchestra formed and lead by prolific Danish composer and guitarist Pierre Dørge, is now a sizzling forum of creative individualists responding to the zeitgeist.
"Johnny Lives" it is a great tribute to the late bassist Johnny Dyani – by a group that features Pierre Dorge on guitar, Harry Beckett on trumpet, John Tchicai on tenor and bass clarinet, Hamid Drake on drums, and both Thomas Dyani and Marilyn Mazur on percussion.
"Johnny Lives" was recorded in Copehnagheg on April 15, 1987, and edited on the SteepleChase label in 1987.
SteepleChase Records is a jazz record company and label based in Copenhagen, Denmark. SteepleChase was founded in 1972 by Nils Winther.
