Athome Project powołał do życia 27-letni multiinstrumentalista Stian Jacobson. Urodzony na małej norweskiej wyspie Stord, niedaleko Bergen, z którego wywodzi się m.in. przebojowy zespół Röyksopp ale także Ralph Myerz i Bjorn Torske.
Debiutancką płytę Athome Project poprzedziły dziesiątki wydań w różnych kompilacjach ostatnich kilku latach i minialbum 'Fjord' dla niemieckiej wytwórni Stereo Deluxe
Z Torbjornem Brundtlandem i Sveinem Berge'em z zespołu Röyksopp łączy Stiana Jacobsona przyjaźń, co znajduje swoje potwierdzenie we wzajemnych remisach, ukazujących się na płytach.
Muzyka Athome Project stanowi kombinację soundtracków, brzmień klasycznych kompozytorów, piosenkowej melodyjności i komputerowych bitów. Wszystko to wzbogacone o elementy jazzu, funku, electro, ambientu oraz soulu tworzy niepowtarzalny styl, którym zespół zdobył sobie wierną rzeszę fanów na całym świecie.
Ważnym elementem jest głos kanadyjskiej wokalistki Caitlin Simpson, rezydującej w Bergen, jej soulowe wokale w kilku utworach w połączeniu z chilloutowym brzmieniem i pulsem klubowych parkietów sprawiają, że Athome Project to ważny przystanek na norweskiej scenie nowej elektroniki.

After the excellent Fjord 12" on the German label Stereo Deluxe, and dozens of releases on different compilations the last couple of years, finally, here is the debut album from Athome Project.
Mr. Athome himself is Stian Jacobsen, a 27 years old multi-instrumentalist and producer from Stord, an island outside Bergen, Norway. In the springtime of 1998, he got problems with his back and had to quit his daytime job. Fortunately, this gave him the opportunity to dedicate all of his time to produce music and explore the outer limits of electronica. He is now an important part of the ever-growing electronica-scene in Bergen (including a/o Röysopp, Ralph Myerz and Bjorn Torske).
Everything is played, recorded and produced in Stians bedroom, a true Athome production. Like his Röyksopp friends, he has a melodic and pop-oriented approach to composing his music. This is mixed with a nice blend of electronica, funky and jazzybeats and dubish grooves, creating the unique and irresistible Athome sound. An important element in the Athome sound is also Caitlin Simpson from Canada, now living in Bergen. She contributes with soulful vocals on several tracks, and is an important part of the Athome live set-up.
A 12" with remixes from Röyksopp and Universal Funk will be released in September 2002. The remixes are also featured on a bonus disc with a limited run of the album.
