Flecista absolutny - Alexis Kossenko - gra na wszystkich typach fletów. Jako czternastolatek ukończył konserwatorium na flecie poprzecznym, lecz później w Paryżu i Amsterdamie studiował grę na fletach historycznych - poprzecznych oraz prostych.

Dzięki swej wszechstronności Alexis zapraszany był od początku kariery do współpracy przez orkiestry symfoniczne: Philharmonie der Nationen, Ensemble Orchestral de Paris, Ensemble Orchestral de Basse Normandie, Orchestre de Bretagne, Orchestre d'Auvergne. Występował z orkiestrami romantycznymi: Anima Aeterna, Orchestre Révolutionaire et Romantique; zabiegały o niego zespoły barokowe i klasyczne: Capriccio Stravagante, La Grande Ecurie et la Chambre du Roi, Le Concert d'Astrée, Mozart Akademie. Pracował pod dyrekcją między innymi Tona Koopmana, Roya Goodmana, Johna Eliota Gardinera, Jos van Immerseela, Mścisława Rostropowicza, Josa van Veldhovena, Emmanuelle Haime, Fabio Biondiego. Brał udział w nagraniu kilkudziesięciu płyt, w tym jako solista niezwykle trudnego koncertu fletowego Carla Nielsena. Od kilku lat stoi na czele dwóch zespołów muzyki dawnej: La Bergamasca i Les Musiciens de Monsieur Croche. Z Arte dei Suonatori współpracuje od roku 2000 i nagrał z nami dwie płyty z koncertami fletowymi C.Ph.E. Bacha, które ukazały się już na rynku oraz w ubiegłym miesiącu płytę z koncertami Vivialdiego.


Arte dei Suonatori należy dziś do czołówki polskich orkiestr grających na instrumentach dawnych i jest wśród naszych zespołów barokowych formacją koncertującą najczęściej i najregularniej. Dzięki systematycznej, intensywnej pracy oraz artystycznym kontaktom z najwybitniejszymi muzykami europejskimi, amerykańskimi i japońskimi orkiestra wypracowała swój własny, indywidualny styl wykonawczy, charakteryzujący się żywiołową, a jednocześnie głęboką ekspresją, pięknym, jednolitym brzmieniem, oraz łatwością w przyswajaniu sobie różnych muzycznych idiomów estetycznych. W zgodnej opinii krytyków oraz publiczności orkiestra Arte dei Suonatori jest jednym z najciekawszych zjawisk na europejskiej scenie muzyki dawnej ostatnich lat. Wydane przez nią płyty spotkały się z entuzjastycznym przyjęciem międzynarodowej krytyki muzycznej i licznymi wyróżnieniami prasy muzycznej (Diapason d'Or, Gramophone Editor's Choice, Choc du Monde de la Musique, Luister 10, Classics Today, 10 de Repertoire, Classic CD, Goldberg, Classic FM Magazine, BBC Music Magazine).

Zespół jest inicjatorem i głównym bohaterem wielu festiwali: Muzyka dawna - persona grata, Muzyka w Raju (Paradyż), Festiwal Trzech Baroków (Wrocław), Festiwal Barokowych Smyczków i Strun (Poznań), Poznań Vivaldi Days, Festiwal Händlowski (Toruń). Za swoją działalność otrzymał kilkakrotnie Medal Młodej Sztuki oraz nagrodę TVP Kultura. Nominowany był do nagrody kulturalnej "Pegaza" oraz kilka razy przez tygodnik "Polityka" do nagrody Paszport w dziedzinie muzyki. W roku 2006 został wyróżniony prestiżową Nagrodą Artystyczną Miasta Poznania.

Wśród solistów i dyrygentów, z którymi orkiestra Arte dei Suonatori współpracowała, znajdują się m.in.: Rachel Brown, Micaela Comberti, Kati Debretzeni, Martin Gester, Reinhard Goebel, Salomé Haller, Robert Hill, Roberta Invernizzi, Maria Keohane, Alexis Kossenko, Barthold Kuijken, Dan Laurin, Eduardo López Banzo, Davitt Moroney, Hille Perl, Alice Piérot, Alberto Rasi, Allan Rasmussen, Bolette Roed, Hidemi Suzuki, Ryo Terakado, Matthew White, Aline Zylberajch, Magali Léger, Rachel Podger, Daniel Sepec, David Plantier, Iestyn Davies, Chiara Banchini, Stefano Montanari.



Vivaldi's flute concertos form a still badly defined and little known corpus. Between incomplete concertos, transcriptions [including some by Graupner] or revisions, trios or quartets equally called 'concertos', apocryphal pages, recently rediscovered works, those still missing but known through catalogues, the ambiguity in the use of the recorder or the flute (maintained by present day exponents), it is rather difficult to have a precise idea of the number of concertos the Venetian devoted to the flauto traversier. Six of them, however, had the good fortune to be published, and have reached us, whether in concerts or on disc. Director and flautist, Alexis Kossenko distinguishes himself once again, after his success with CPE Bach's flute concertos.

In Holland in the 1720s the transverse flute enjoyed considerable popularity among amateur musicians. Aware of that keen interest, the publisher Michel Le Cene decided in 1729 to present his customers with the very first collection of concertos for flute and orchestra. Vivaldi responded to his request by refurbishing several older works. Only one of them was already in the modern concerto form: the Concerto in F major for recorder and strings. Another four pieces were hybrid in form and still close to chamber works. The predominant role of the recorder or flute in those four concertos made them ideal for adaptation. The odd man out of the collection is the short Concerto in G major RV 435. No earlier version is known and its style, more modern than its five companions in the set, leads us to suppose that Vivaldi wrote it specifically for Le Cene's publication. The decade following the publication of op. 10 saw the appearance of a fair number of new flute concertos. Among them, the Concerto in A minor RV 440 is a splendid example of Vivaldi's maturity. Studying the manuscript of this concerto reveals different stages in its composition, as well as shedding light on its destination. In the case of RV 438 and RV 400, Vivaldi simplified many passages, probably making such sacrifices for a flautist of very limited virtuosity. Since these revisions had no musical justification, we chose to restore the original text.
