Editor's Info:
The story begins one evening and ends the following morning; it is divided into six ‘scenes’, each beginning with a piece for solo piano from Debussy's _Epigraphes antiques_ and containing pieces by various composers, forming a conversation between a man (tenor) and a woman (soprano), with the flute sometimes joining in, sometimes performing alone.
BBC Music Magazine * * * * *
This is quite simply marvellous. …an exquisitely planned collection of French music from the turn of the 20th century, bringing together, on the one hand, settings by Saint-Saëns, Pierné, Godard and Caplet of the same Victor Hugo poem, and, on the other, musical references to Pan, predominantly from Debussy.
muzycy:
Sandrine Piau: sopran
Herve Lamy - tenor
Gilles de Talhouet - piano
Arthur Schoonderwoerd - piano
