Voice Stories consists of pieces for voice and electronics. Common to all the pieces is the portrayal, in different ways, of profound female destinies from different cultures and ages, created by some of the most central composers in New Music: Alejandro Vińao; Giacinto Scelsi; Luigi Nono
Masagoąs Confession was originally a scene of the chamber opera Rashomon. The libretto is based on a short story by Ryunosuke A"Dream portrays one of the most famous of Hildegard von Bingenąs religious visions. In La fabbrica illuminata, the singer is the commentator of ­ and is placed amid loudspeakers that broadcast ­ the sounds of life and drama in a factory, overdubbed with sequences of choir-song. Scelsiąs piece Hô is based on a word of Sanskrit.
Hilde Torgersen was educated at the Norwegian Academy of Music. She is an active proponent of New Music, and has premiered pieces by James Dillon, Arne Norheim, James Clarke, Gerhard Stäbler, Rolf Wallin, among others. Hilde Torgersen has recorded CDąs with ensembles such as Cikada, Oslo Sinfonietta, Sisu and pianist Kenneth Karlsson. She has also worked with jazz musicians such as Bugge Wesseltoft, Sidsel Endresen and Morten Halle.
