Christopher Nupen has mad 26 productions with Vladimir Ashkenazy over the years, several of which have won prizes. In this one he gives us an intimate and engaging view of one of the world's most quietly successful musicians. It contains the portrait film 'Vladimir Ashkenazy: The Vital Juices Are Russian', together with a montage of sequences from Christopher Nupen's composer films with Vladimir Ashkenazy as conductor and a performance based on Rachmaninov's 'Corelli Variations' which has not been published before. It also contains a short interview with Ashkenazy who talks, in his modest but penetrating way, about musical gifts and their origins.
