The viola da gamba and accordion may be an unexpected pairing, but perhaps even more surprising is how well the strings of the veteran instrument harmonize with the reeds of the centuries-younger newcomer. Another cross-generational pairing, Marianne Muller and Vincent Lhermet found each other while exploring the ''poetical humours'' of early seventeenth-century England and formed the duo Les inAttendus. This program of music by Hume, Dowland, East, Gibbons, Tidrow, Bull and Hersant marks their first entry into the harmonia mundi catalogue.
