To celebrate the 25th Anniversary of her Ensemble Amarillis, the multi-instrumentalist artistic director Héloïse Gaillard brought together the most evocative pieces of the musical encounters shemade with her team along the years.

This medley seems like a bunch of flowers plucked from the infinite field of the baroque repertoire: the listening is guided by the passionate voices of Stéphanie d'Oustrac, Patricia Petibon and Mathias Vidal. It is also marked by the famous Concertos by Bach and Vivaldi. They are joined by rarities brought to light by the tireless Héloïse Gaillard: Alessandro Scarlatti’s La Didone delirante or Charpentier and Molière’s La Couronne de fleurs.

The various metamorphoses of passion, from joy to melancholy and pain to madness, are the guiding theme of this journey across Baroque Europe. The selection finally reflects the boldness and openness of Ensemble Amarillis. The sober and refined version of Greensleeves, specially recorded by Héloïse Gaillard and her for ever partner Violaine Cochard, reminds us that the creativity of jazz draws on baroque improvisation.
