The collaboration between Finland's flagship in jazz, the Umo Jazz Orchestra and A-Records started with the critically acclaimed 1998 release "Electrifying Miles" (AL 73153) featuring trumpeter Tim Hagans. The idea for this recording - the outcome of a meeting with A-Records' producer Angelo Verploegen and managing director Anne de Jong and UMO's marketing manager Antti J. Hyvärinen in June 1999 during UMO's concert visit in Brussels - was not difficult to find. A-Records very much wanted to release some of Kenny Wheeler's new music and UMO was to invite Mr. Wheeler and vocalist Norma Winstone for their own concert production, which took place at the Pop & Jazz Conservatory in Helsinki on February 18th, 2000 and was broadcasted by the Finnish YLE Broadcasting Company. This was the third time the Umo Jazz Orchestra had Kenny Wheeler and Norma Winstone perform with them, now celebrating Mr. Wheeler's 70th birthday and UMO's 25th anniversary!

"One More Time" contains all original music composed and arranged by Kenny Wheeler. The 1999 composed four part orchestral suite The One More Time Suite has never been recorded before. Norma Winstone put lyrics to Wheeler's Sea Lady and Kenny Wheeler arranged his own Three For D'reen, Blue For Lou and W.W. (all from his ECM classic "Double, Double You") for big band. One More Time is an exquisite showcase, not only of Kenny Wheeler's trumpet playing but also of his unique big band writing and of Norma Winstone's artistry and UMO's outstanding capacities.
