Album ukaże się w limitowanym nakładzie, jako koprodukcja Kilogram Records i Powiększenia.

Repertuar zespołu Shofar składa się z tradycyjnej, religijnej muzyki żydowskiej. Podobnie jak komentowanie Tory tak i tu, poprzez muzykę trio odtwarza różne prądy religijności. Dlatego obok chasydzkich nigunów znajdziemy muzykę najstarszego obrządku w synagodze, a obok pieśni kantorów z międzywojnia, muzykę obrządku liberalnego. Utwory, które wykonują pochodzą z przedwojennych badań muzykologicznych z terenów Ukrainy, Polski i Mołdawii. To najczęściej tzw. "niguny", czyli magiczne pieśni religijne, w niektórych przypadkach mające wprowadzać w trans i ekstazę. Zespół grywa też "frejlaksy" - czyli utwory bardziej taneczne i utwory wywodzące się z liturgii żydowskiej. W tej chwili na program koncertowy, w większości, składają się utwory z tradycji chasydzkiej. Głównym impulsem do zajęcia się tą tradycją było odnalezienie przez Raphaela Rogińskiego, zbioru pieśni chasydzkich Bieregowskiego >1892-1961>. Muzykolog ten, począwszy od lat 20, badał muzykę żydowską. Jednym z efektów jego pracy był tom poświęcony tradycji chasydzkiej. Zachowując w niezmienionej formie materiał dźwiękowy utworów, jest możliwe poznanie całego spektrum muzyki chasydzkiej i kultury z nią związanej. Wszystko to jest połączone ze współczesnym podejściem do kreatywnej formy jazzu.
Shofar zadebiutował w 2007 roku płytą "Shofar", drugi album "Ha-Huncvot" miał premierę w tym roku podczas koncertu w Lincoln Center w Nowym Jorku, który był częścią trasy koncertowej zespołu po Stanach Zjednoczonych i Kanadzie.
Oba wydawnictwa ukazały się nakładem niezależnej wytwórni Kilogram Records.

SHOFAR is a trio consisting of three pillars of Polish improvised music: Mikołaj Trzaska – an outstanding saxophonist and clarinetist, Raphael Rogiński – guitarist and composer, and Macio Moretti – drummer known from Mitch&Mitch activity.
Shofar was founded in May 2006 on the initiative of Raphael Rogiński. The ideological aim of the group is to find a common denominator for traditional Chasidic music and free jazz as well as to continue the tradition of Jewish music which is still alive for the group. The repertoire of the group consists of traditional, religious, Jewish music. The compositions are most often ‘nigunim’ that is magical religious songs and ‘freylaks’ – more rhythmical pieces and compositions deriving from Jewish liturgy. Through music various religious currents are reproduced in the way it happens when Torah is commented. That is why next to Chasidic nigunim we can find music of the oldest rite in synagogue and next to songs of interwar cantors, music of liberal rite. The album ‘Shofar’ published by Gdańsk publishing house Kilogram Records in September 2007 consists mainly of compositions from Chasidic tradition. The main impulse to take up this tradition was the finding of Mojsiej Bieregowski’s collection of Chasidic songs by Raphael Rogiński. This musicologist living 1892 – 1961 studied Jewish music from Ukraine, Poland and Moldavia since the 20-ties.

Mikołaj Trzaska
– born in Gdańsk, saxophonist, bass clarinetist and composer, grew out of yass – a socio-artistic movement that in the 80-ties/ 90-ties opposed the rigidity of Polish jazz environment. Together with Tymon Tymański and a group of other musicians free from any doctrine they changed the image of Polish jazz music.
Trzaska was the co-founder of the most important yass group – legendary Miłość and of as creative Łoskot. Although the impetus of yass faded away many years ago he became the leader of national improvisation scene.
After the yass period he recorded a few concentrated and quiet albums with the section of Oleś brothers. He also accompanied poets – Świetlicki and Andrukhovych, he created muical – literary projects with Andrzej Stasiuk.
Today he is the leader of international trio Volumen and the member of among others Resonance of Ken Vandermark, Magic – Joe McPhee or Shofar trio with Raphael Rogiński and Macio Moretti – playing Jewish music.
But above all he realizes himself in the radical contemporary free jazz. He travels around the world cooperating with personalities of world improvisation among others with Peter Brötzmann, Joe McPhee, Ken Vandermak, Peter Friis Nielsen, Clementine Gasser, Pete Ole Jorgensen, Michael Zerang, Franz Houtzinger, Jay Rosen, Domik Duval, Mark Sanders. He has recorded around thirty albums.

Raphael Rogiński
was born in Frankfurt am Main. Since he was 13 he has been playing electric guitar. He is educated in jazz and classical music as well as musicology and ethnomusicology. From the very beginning of his artistic work he has been concentrated on improvisation resulting from jazz and on ethnic and folk music. Mix of these two roads is the determinant of his artistic activity. He is a composer and performer. Strongly enrooted in Jewish culture he is looking for a place for it in his work. He is a leader of two projects that result from this search: Shofar and Cukunft. He has cooperated with Noel Akchote, Frederic Blondy, Joe Giardullo, Axel Dorner, Thomas Lehn, Andrew Sharpley, John Edwards, John Tilbury, Brigit Ulher, Yale Strom.
Polish Music (among others Emiter, Macio Moretti, Patryk Zakrocki, Tomasz Gwincinski, Daniel Pigonski, Konstanty Usenko, Vadim O. Pavluk, Ryszard Latecki.
He guest performed on albums: Djazzpora, Sztetlach, Broniewski, Meritum.

Macio Moretti
He started as a bassist of Slage Image/Królowie Życia. Now he is a drummer in Starzy Singers and Baaby. He is the leader of Mitch&Mitch. He has played, recorded and given concerts in many countries with many interesting lineups and musicians exploring areas from grind/punk Molotov cocktails, through country to free improvisation and pseudo - jazz. He co forms two record companies: Lado ABC and Zgnile Mieso Records. He also busies himself with graphic design.
