Editor's info:
By bringing together three highly acclaimed artists, masters in their field, the outcome can only be uniquely astonishing. Poetry by British spoken word artist Holly McNish in combination with music, written by composer and conductor Jules Buckley and played by the Dutch Metropole Orkest. The result of this collaboration invites the listener into a different universe. A universe, where words and notes fuse into one single form of art. It is a conversation between the prizewinning poet and the recently Grammy-awarded orchestra and its conductor. When Hollie McNish started her path, she quickly attracted the attention of thousands of people via her YouTube channel. Poetry versus Orchestra combines her talent with the sound of the Metropole Orkest, which is not only the world’s leading jazz and pop orchestra, but is also valued for its naturally artistic approachability.
In collaboration with McNish the music was especially written by Jules Buckley to underline and fuse with the words, always the unique colour of sound of the Metropole Orkest in mind.
The album ranges from the blissfully happy experiences and thoughts of a mum to a deeply sociocritical and thought-provoking severity of a human being with an open heart and open eyes.
The beautifully designed book and its text guide the listener through an experience, in which the border between poetry and music vanish.
