HIGH-DEFINITION PREMIUM VIRGIN VINYL PRESSING FOR SUPER FIDELITY
THE WAY THIS MUSIC WAS MEANT TO BE HEARD
180 gram VINYL - AUDIOPHILE PRESSING
Clifford Brown died in a car accident in 1956 at the tender age of 26, bringing one of the most exciting careers in jazz to a tragic close. His recording career would last for only four years, beginning in March 21, 1952 with four tracks by Chris Powell and the Blue Flames. These are, in fact, the only tracks featuring Clifford backing vocals with the exception of the three wonderful albums made in 1954 with Dinah Washington, Sarah Vaughan, and Helen Merrill. The middle one, considered the best of them all, is reissued here in its entirety (including an alternate take that didn't appear on the original LP). Sarah's first recordings took place in 1944 with the Billy Eckstine orchestra, and she had been an active participant in concerts and recording sessions with such legendary bebop stars as Dizzy Gillespie and Charlie Parker. Even if she enjoyed a long career, this early album is still regarded as one of her very best.
muzycy:
Sarah Vaughan: vocal
Clifford Brown: trumpet
Herbie Mann: flute
Paul Quinichette: tenor saxophone
Jimmy Jones: piano
Joe Benjamin: bass
Roy Haynes: drums
Ernie Wilkins: conductor
