Kjok i Garden są wykształconymi muzykami i zapewne trafnie oddają piękno tamtejszej kultury, jednakże brak niezbędnego 'bakcyla' ludowości czyni ich interpretacje zbyt sterylnymi. Tym niemniej pozycja jest bardzo cenna dla badaczy muzyki ludowej tamtych stron....'

More proof that the days of accordion brutally swamping fiddles have passed. There's a beautiful responsiveness and rich completeness of sound from Kjok's fiddle and Garden's accordion, in their expertly articulate approach to the shapely bridal-marches, springleiks, waltes and listening tunes of their home-tradition of Ottadal, northwest of Lillehammer.

Folkloristic traditions are based on the transmission of music from generation to generation. But this does not at all imply that folk music has to be static and forever unchangeable - musicians like Knut Kjok and Dag Garden lend the term Tradition itself an entirely new meaning, as they pay equally respect to creativity and fantasy as well as re-creation and faithfulness to their musical sources. As a result an extraordinarily sincere, honest and fascinating music emerges, right through candid, truly original and refreshingly new - from people to people!
