"Echoes" contrasts wide, improvised passages with dense orchestrations, creating a balance between air and fire, a timeless soundscape that encompasses both spiritual openness and rhythmic intensity. The suite "Echoes of India" is the centerpiece of the album and is based on the light and lyrical "Raga Durga". The suite begins with a captivating solo by Palle Mikkelborg and in part II an improvisation between Mikkelborg and Fabian Weber on piano turns into a beautiful ballad. Part III has a strong rhythmic appeal, driven by elegant and energetic drumming. The album closes with one of Møller's best-known compositions, "Folk Song No. 1", which is based on a Danish folk song.
The NDR Bigband is much more than a radio orchestra. It can look back on countless invitations to festivals and concerts at home and abroad, several awards and more than 60 recordings in recent years.
