Szwajcarka Julie Campiche jest jedną z tych osób, która mając akademicki background nadaje swojej muzyce polistylistyczny potencjał. Do tej pory nazwisko Campiche można było znaleźć obok takich, jak Jasper Høiby, Erik Truffaz, Andreas Schaerer, Eric Longsworth czy Claire Huguenin (Jibcae).
Nowy album "Unspoken" wydany właśnie w barwach szwajcarskiej oficyny RONIN, prowadzonej przez Nika Bärtscha jest zarazem jej pierwszym w pełni autorskim. Zawiera osiem własnych kompozycji, opowiadających o ważnych dla Campiche kobietach. Są wśród nich Grisélidis Real, która w latach 70. była jedną z pionierek ruchu dążącego do ochrony praw pracowników seksualnych.

"Unspoken" łączy kunsztowną grę na harfie z subtelnym wykorzystaniem elektroniki i efektów, wokalu i sampli dźwiękowych. Posiadający siłę wzbudzania refleksji album, wiedzie słuchacza wielogatunkową ścieżką, pozwalając słuchaczowi zanurzyć się w muzyce i jednocześnie zaangażować. Campiche stawia na emocjonalną szczerość wychodzącą z niemal każdej frazy. Tkając oniryczną materię podszytą szczyptą surrealizmu Julie Campiche chwilami przypomina "YS" Joanny Newsom lub Julee Cruise z jej anielskimi szeptami. Niestroniąca od eksperymentalnych ciągot Szwajcarka na swoim pierwszym w pełni autorskim albumie proponuje sporo łagodności i melodii. Wierna swojej koncepcji, pozwalając sobie na laboratoryjną wręcz precyzję w dbaniu o detal, oferuje słuchaczowi marzycielską, zanurzoną w łagodnej nostalgii opowieść, tworząc nową przestrzeń dźwiękową, bez żadnych procedur czy instrukcji, aby głosy kobiet były słyszane.

Her first inspiration was Charlotte Bienaimé's ‘Un podcast à soi’, which discusses fundament- tal questions of gender and feminism. "More often than not in history, 'Anonymous' was a woman" - this sentence by Virginia Woolf, epigraph to the famous radio podcast, has found an echo in Julie Campiche. Giving a voice to women, but in a distinct way: this is the common thread running through the album. Rather than a feminist manifesto, UNSPOKEN seeks to celebrate feminine strength, nourished by commitment and openness. She addresses the fragile balance of women in shadow and light of society.
“Female strength is what makes the world go round. 80% of household chores are done by women for free and anonymously. I want to celebrate exceptional women, but also give a place to this everyday strength”. Among the figures who inspire her and whose voices and actions she evokes, are the Swiss artist and prostitute Grisélidis Réal, or Las Patronas, the Mexican guardian angels who throw food and water to those who have decided to migrate and illegally board freight trains bound for the USA.

Julie Campiche (harp)
Classically trained, Julie Campiche discovered jazz during a big band performance twenty years ago. Fascinated by it, she decided to dive into this new world. She was the first harpist to earn a master's degree in jazz composition and performance at the Haute Ecole de Musi- que de Lausanne (HEMU). She has enjoyed a prolific career, making a name for herself on the international scene, where she tours regularly. She has received numerous prizes and awards, including the Swiss Music Prize in 2025 and a multi-year grant from the city of Geneva for the period 2024-2027. Her quartet's latest album was released on the presti- gious German label Enja. The atypical nature of her career, the choice of a rare instrument used in unusual registers, make her a unique figure, an inspiring woman who sees her art only in terms of commitment. “I can't see art as being disconnected from society. In my approach, I seek to extract myself from the particular case to touch on the universal, to connect and encourage people to invest themselves in and for this world of ours”.

Fabien Iannone (double bass)
Fabien is born in 1990 in Switzerland. After two years of piano lessons, at 14 he discovered the passion for the electric bass, that he studied for two years. He turned quickly to the double bass, that became his main instrument. In 2011 he obtained a scholarship from the Fritz Gerber Foundation based in Zurich. That gave him the opportunity to spend 6 months in New York and dive deeply into the intense musical sourround of this city.
Fabien had the opportunity to study with Ben Street, Bänz Oester, Jorge Rossy and Sophia Rosoff. Back to Switzerland, he entered in the Jazz School of Basel in 2012. He is actually playing in many Jazz projects in Switzerland and France.
He had the opportunity to play with musicians such Ohad Talmor, Dan Weiss, Colin Valon, Yoon Sun Choi, Khabu Doug Young, Gabriel Zufferey, Malcolm Braff, Matthieu Llodra, Marcel Papaux, Jean Lou Treboux, Guillaume Perret, etc. He also had the chance to participate to several international festivals: Montreux Jazz Festival, Paleo, Cully Jazz Festival, Jazz sous les Pommiers (FR), Südtirol Jazzfestival (IT), Cosmojazz (FR).

"For most of history, Anonymous was a woman."
This sentence by Virginia Woolf is the starting point for Julie Campiche's new solo project.

With her harp, electronic effects and voice, Julie pays tribute to women and feminine strength. Each composition tells the story of a woman, past or present, from here or elsewhere, famous or anonymous. Responding to an intense need for sisterhood, she carries these voices that have been silenced, minimised, anonymised, and yet so powerful.

Julie Campiche pursues a constant quest for innovation with her instrument. Her musical journey led her to add electronic effects to subtly complement her improvisational palette on her harp. She created her own technique and very personal language. Her musical approach is driven by the desire to find the infinitely universal in the depths of intimacy, to work on self-forgetfulness and on the creation of spaces where dreams come true, where believing you can fly is actually enough to achieve it.
