Pierwsze wydawnictwo Mikhaila Pletneva dla Deutsche Grammophon od 20 lat. Pianista z DG był związany od 1993 roku. Jego płyty wyróżnione były m.in.. Nominacjami do Grammy (był laureatem tej nagrody w 2005). Album z sonatami Scarlattiego otrzymał Gramophone Award (1996).
Na swój powrót do Deutsche Grammophon Mikhail Pletnev wybrał dwa wspaniałe dzieła – preludia Chopina z op. 28 oraz preludia Scriabina z p. 11. Pianista zdaje się odcinać od jakiejkolwiek dosłowności. Interesuje go forma, a dokładniej - konstrukcja poszczególnych sonat. Z charakterystyczną sobie wirtuozerią i płynnością narracji stworzył arcydzieło. Album powstał w trakcie jedynie 4,5-godzinnej sesji nagraniowej w Emil Berliner Studios, w listopadzie ubiegłego roku.
"Chopin & Scriabin: Préludes" dostępny jest w formatach CD i LP. Wydawnictwo to jest szczególnym dla DG, pierwszym od wielu lat w audiofilskiej serii pure analogue, w ramach której wszystkie nagrania rejestrowane są wyłącznie w jakości analogowej (AAA).

The renditions captured reflect a master’s perspective on two masterpieces of the piano repertoire. In an historic milestone for DG, the engineering team captured the performances on a pure analogue vinyl format (AAA).
Mikhail Pletnev releases his first studio album on Deutsche Grammophon since 2005. The artistic versatility of the pianist, conductor and composer is reflected in the special expressiveness of his interpretations of two important prelude cycles: Chopin's 24 Preludes op. 28 and Scriabin's 24 Preludes op. 11. The legendary Russian artist captures the character of each individual miniature with inimitable sound design. A release that is full of surprises and defies all clichés. An album that was planned as a concert recording and then became a studio recording. A stroke of luck for all listeners, because whether it was a coincidence or the intervention of a higher musical destiny: What emerged from the studio recording, in a single, four-and-a-half-hour session, can only be described as pure magic.
Pletnev recorded the album on his preferred instrument, a Shigeru Kawai grand piano that only he plays, which is supplied for all his concerts and whose tonal color palette and transparency lend additional depth to his interpretations.
This vinyl recording is also a real sensation in a second respect: it is the first purely analog DG new production since the 1980s! Pletnev's recording was captured using specially made Sennheiser microphones and a Studer C37 tube tape machine and then minimally edited using classic cutting and gluing techniques. The result is the unadulterated sound in its full, warm musicality that gives life and depth to the original.
