The Complete Blue Note 45 Sessions of Ike Quebec to wyjątkowy zbiór nagrań zrealizowanych w latach 1959–1962 przez jedną z kluczowych postaci w historii wytwórni Blue Note. Tenorowy saksofonista nagrywał już w latach 40. serię płyt 78 RPM (78 obr./min) dla Alfreda Liona, a także pełnił rolę łowcy talentów, zachęcając go do nagrywania przełomowych postaci rodzącej się sceny bebopowej, takich jak Thelonious Monk czy Bud Powell. Po trudnym okresie w latach 50., kiedy Quebec zniknął ze sceny, Lion odnowił znajomość z przyjacielem i w 1959 roku zaczął ponownie wprowadzać jego muzykę do świata jazzu, publikując serię singli 45 RPM (45 obr./min), nagrywane z myślą o szafach grających. Single spotkały się z bardzo dobrym odbiorem ukazując artystę w absolutnym szczycie formy. Jego donośne, a zarazem niezwykle swobodne brzmienie doskonale sprawdzało się zarówno w balladach, jak i bluesie.
Sukces powrotu Quebeca zainspirował Liona do dalszej współpracy. Zarejestrowano cztery sesje z udziałem różnych muzyków, z których powstały klasyczne nagrania, takie jak A Light Reprieve, Blue Monday czy What A Difference A Day Makes. Quebec nagrał także kilka albumów studyjnych, w tym ponadczasowe klasyki soulowego jazzu: Heavy Soul, Blue & Sentimental oraz Bossa Nova Soul Samba, kończąc tym samym niezwykle intensywny etap kariery, którą tragicznie przerwała jego śmierć na raka płuc w 1963 roku.

Nowadays it is almost forgotten that jazz recordings were also released on 45-rpm singles in the last century, not least to fill the popular jukeboxes.
This strictly limited special edition of the Blue Note Tone Poet series brings together on three LPs all the singles with which tenor saxophonist Ike Quebec celebrated an overwhelming comeback on Blue Note Records from 1959 onwards. With them, Quebec built on his successes of the mid-forties, when he earned the reputation at Blue Note of being the "King of Jukebox Hits".
As always with the Tone Poet series, the 3-LP set is produced by Joe Harley and cut completely analog by Kevin Gray directly from Rudy Van Gelder's original master tapes. Pressed on 180-gram vinyl at RTI, the LPs are packaged in a luxurious triple gatefold that also includes a booklet with unpublished photos by Francis Wolff and an in-depth essay by Loren Schoenberg.
