Debiutancki album Toma Waitsa, który ostatecznie ukazał się w 1973 roku. Nie brakowało tam ani funku, ani jazzu, ani piosenek folkowych, ani, tak charakterystycznych w całym dorobku Waitsa, zwykłych piosenek barowych. Teksty obfitowały w gorzkie, melancholijne i często przewrotne opowieści.

Reissued for the first time as a double LP to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the landmark debut with newly half speed mastering at Abbey Road Studios.
