Franz Anton Hoffmeister was not only a composer of the Viennese classical era, but also a music publisher and a friend of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, who dedicated one of his most beautiful string quartets to him, the ''Hoffmeister Quartet'' KV 499. As a composer he was highly esteemed by his contemporaries. This CD presents for the first time his complete compostions for viola. Besides the Viola Concertos D Major and B-flat major, the 12 Studies for Solo Viola are recorded here for the first time.
