Greenwood

"On their second full-length studio album, entitled "Greenwood", Monoton has managed to rise above the untimely loss of Morten Havn and the release comes across as a truly extraordinary effort. The unique instrumentation underlines the searching, wistful atmosphere that saturates the nine tracks. The tension between different traditions - the accordion, harmonica and lap steel on the one hand and the grandiose guitar escapades and drum tracks on the other - creates a brand of the blues situated on the threshold between the wide, well-lit interchanges of the big city and the small, murky country road.
Legend has it that early blues great, Robert Johnson, is buried in Greenwood, Mississippi. The fact that Monoton has named their album after this particular town, could indicate that not all funerals have to be endings - some can mark new beginnings."
