W październiku 1972r. zespół zagrał trzy koncerty w Zoom Club we Frankfurcie i zarejestrował dla telewizji koncert w Beat Club Germany. Zaraz potem wyruszył na trasę po Zjednoczonym Królestwie. Koncert w Guildford był czwartym podczas tej trasy i w jego programie znalazł się materiał z albumu, który przyjął postać "Larks' Tongues in Aspic", gdy King Crimson nagrał go w styczniu następnego roku. To zdecydowanie najlepsze istniejące nagranie koncertowe krótkotrwałego, legendarnego pięcioosobowego składu.

The Muir-era line-up has always been surrounded with an air of mystery partly due to the lack of reliable documentation which has been available. Listening to this album it's clear that the power that swept off the stage and into the audience of Guildford's Civic Hall remains undiminished and nothing short of astonishing.
The reputation of the 1972/74 King Crimson line-ups comes from shows such as this soundboard recording of the band. Having formed in July of 1972, the band played three nights at the Zoom Club in Frankfurt & recorded a TV performance for Beat Club Germany in October prior to embarking on a full UK tour. This was the fourth concert of that tour & features material from the album that would become Larks Tongues in Aspic when recorded the following January, alongside one of the band s fiercest (& longest) improvs. This is the best known concert recording of the short-lived, legendary, quintet line-up.
