The opening salvo is a cover of Pretty Things' "S.F. Sorrow is Born," both a wry play on the band's name and an homage to the kind of psyche-delicate garage-rocking that infuses leader Barbara Manning's songs and cover choices. Tuneful but just slightly off-kilter, the band has the wobbly chutzpah to put across complex songs with the spirited air of teenagers picking up their instruments for the first time.

Recorded at Lowdown Studios, San Francisco, California from February 22 to March 16, 1995.
