'...Doskonała kompilacja i istna kopalnia wiedzy o norweskiej elektronice. Mimo mroźnego tytułu, całość sprawia doskonałe wrażenie i słucha się tej płyty wybornie. 12 utworów i tyluż samo wykonawców, a duża większość z nich to dziś absolutna czołówka norweskiej elektroniki. Biosphere, Information, Aedena Cycle, Mind Over Midi, Motion Control, Ultraviolet. Dominuje oczywiście chłodny ambient, lecz nie tylko, mamy i północny house w postaci duetu Anon. Są też śmiałe nawiązania do jazzu i funku w postaci projektu Sternklang. Reszta to ambientowe pasaże, utrzymane w duchu arktycznej elektroniki, są kompozycje bardziej przystępne jak nagrania Illumination czy Biosphere. Jak i abstrakcyjne kolaże min doskonały duet Sketch. To oczywiście składa się na fascynującą i logicznie ułożoną kompilację. We wszystkich utworach przebrzmiewa podbiegunowa aura i mroki nocy polarnych. Słuchając 'Arctic Circles" nie trzeba zakładać zimowych ciuchów i ruszać śladami Marka Kamińskiego. Wystarczy włączyć płytę, założyć słuchawki i po prostu słuchać. Fascynujące!!!...'

Artists such as Biosphere, Ultraviolet, Illumination, Mental Overdrive, Krisp, Ismistik, Aedena Cycle and Motion Control have through their output on various european labels drawn attension to the norwegian underground techno/electronica scene, often reffered to as the "Arctic Scene". Small idealistic lables such as +47, Love OD and Beatservice Records have been a part of establishing and maintaining this scene, who excists well hidden behind the more commercial rave culture.

Finally, Beatservice Records have put together a compilation which has turned out to be a "tour de force" of the arctic scene. "Arctic Circles - a collection of sub zero soundscapes" contains exclusive tracks from the likes of Biosphere, Illumination, Ultraviolet and more, 12 tracks from 12 artist/projects who shows both the variety and the depth of this scene.

The CD booklet contains short biographies and discographies for each of the contributors, and is a kind of a "Trans-Arctic Express."
