opakowanie: digipackowe etuiIn 1985 John Persen ?nished his opera Under Kors og Krone (Under Cross and Crown) dealing with the Kautokeino-rebellion in 1852, where a Lestadianus-inspired Christian fraction of the Sami-population of Northern Norway revolted against the local of?cial authorities. The Norwegian Opera regarded the opera as un-playable and un-performable. This started a big debate at the time, and John Persen t.y. was so upset by the treatment his work was subjected to that he swore never to write any music that had to be performed by humans again. Many years later John Persen t.e. started lea?ng through the scorned score, and found so much he liked that he started working on the gigantic orchestral piece Over Kors og Krone (Over Cross and Crown). October 1st 1999 the Oslo Philharmonic Orchestra premiered the work, and the reception was phenomenal. Together with Christian Eggen the OPO has now recorded John Persen's triumphant return.
