Stéphanie de Failly obtained a Higher Diploma violin a the Mons Conservatory with Véronique Bogaerts, followed by a thorough study of the baroque violin with Sigiswald Kuijken, and the lessons of Florence Malgoire at the Centre de Musique Ancienne in Geneva, where she studied 17th-century repertoire.

In 2000 she founded the ensemble Clematis, with the aim of bringing back to life the underestimated works of the 17th century. Stéphanie de Failly specializes both in broad Italian repertoire and German and French music, but also shows interest in the forgotten pages of the Low Countries' composers such as Nicolaus à Kempis.

With a changing cast for every project, the ensemble Clematis brings together a number of excellent musicians around Stéphanie de Failly, all of whom participate in today's best baroque ensembles. Striving for historical authenticity, Clematis collaborates with musicologists in working out original programs. Several shows of the ensemble Clematis in festivals in Belgium and abroad, as well as its first c.d.-release with Symphoniae by Nicolaus à Kempis, have met with enthusiasm from the press.
