Sekstet gitarzystów z Kanady francuskiej zaprezentował 9 miniaturek pióra Mauricio Kagela, Claude'a Viviera, Martina Lavasseura, Francisa Marcauxa (szefa formacji) i Johna Cage'a. Część utworów zaaranżowali członkowie grupy, część wykonano według zapisanego w oryginale układu. Wypracowano piękne brzmienie (z echami stylu Roberta Frippa), choć wydaje się, że dodanie odrobiny pasji do dość chłodnych prezentacji nadałoby im więcej kolorytu.

„L’Hexacorde” to sekstet gitarowego. Wykonują oni dzieła lokalnych twórców i biorą na warsztat takie klasyki jak „Rrrrrr..” Kagla, czy utwory Cage’a, oraz „Pulau dewata” Claude Vivier’a – kompozycję zainspirowaną światem Bali i napisaną na dowolny zestaw instrumentów. Ich brawurowe kameralne interpretacje pełne są lirycznego wdzięku i brzmieniowej inwencji. Perłą są wykonania Cage’a przekładające na język sekstetu niuanse preparowanych brzmień fortepianu (sonaty i interludia) i wibracje harfy („In a Landscape”).

L'Hexacorde favors the contemporary repertoire for classical guitar ensemblee. Throus arrangements, work commissions and premieres, the ensemble explores the potential of this unusual kind of group. The ensemble presents its first album, devoted in part to the premiere recordings of works by Martin Levasseur ('Empreintes magnolia', for electric guitar, four guitars and bass) and Francis Marcoux ('Obstination', for five guitars and bass), along with original arrangements of works by contemporary composers, such as John Cage (excerpts from 'Sonatas and Interludes for prepared piano', arranged for five prepared guitars and prepared bass), Mauricio Kagel (excerpts from 'Rrrrrr...', for five guitars, mandolin and bass) and Claude Vivier ('Pulau Dewata', arranged for four guitars). And L'Hexacorde delivers masterful, refined and passionate interpretations of these pieces.
