Vivaldi remains one of the best-known composers of Italian Baroque music, one of the most frequently performed and appreciated in our modern age. To be sure, his works are imbued with the joyous bustle, the swirling movement that was the very soul of Settecento Venice. But the more we get to know this composer's output, the better we understand the craze this outstanding virtuoso inspired throughout Europe in his dayʼ (S. Mamy). In this respect, the cello concertos stand with those for violin at the very peak of Vivaldi’s art.
