In their search for duo literature for violin and viola, Isabelle Faust and Thomas Riebel stumbled upon an unexpectedly valuable treasure in the Italian Alessandro Rolla (1757-1841). A true firework of original, varied, highly virtuosic and touching music. Although innovation and new modes of expression were not Rolla's concerns here, they in no way indicate a lack of musical level.
