opis:

Polish violinist Janusz Wawrowski’s second Warner Classics album, Sequenza. Following the success of his previous albums Aurora and the Paganini Caprices, this new release takes its title from the infamous ‘unplayable’ Sequenza by Italian composer Luciano Berio.

The album marks a bold departure for Wawrowski, with little-known and often pioneering repertoire for solo violin, enabling Janusz Wawrowski to explore the broadest possible scope for original interpretation with the full spectrum of technical craftsmanship and the challenges of the violin – unflinchingly alone in some of the most demanding repertoire ever written for the instrument, the intimate act of playing solo, armed only with exceptional technique and deep insight into the music. Wawrowski is searching for connections between music and mind, music and structure, music and science...

The album features both well-known compositions by legendary masters like Berio, Ysaye and fellow Poles Penderecki and Bacewicz, as well as pieces written specially for Janusz Wawrowski in close collaboration with young composers, including two world-premiere recordings. Diverse, colourful repertoire enables this virtuoso to create a rich universe of sound with only one instrument.
