The Phantom of the Opera and the Mummy is a somewhat misleading title, in actuality this is the entire soundtrack from Universal's 1943 version of The Phantom of the Opera with The Mummy's theme (a Tchaikovsky composition) tacked onto the end. Because of the romantic approach taken by this particular rendition, the CD is mostly culled from the few horrific moments of the film. Thus, there's lots of screaming, moody orchestral pieces and excerpts from George Waggner's Lullaby of the Bells, the doomed opera that the characters are trying to put on in the film. The one track from The Mummy includes dialogue and a more grainy sound. This is a neat memento from one of the less-recognized versions of the story, and the bonus track is a nice touch.
