The complete original classic album Connonball's Sharpshooters, plus two extra tracks from the same session that were not included on the LP. As a bonus, this CD also contains all of the tunes from Machito's albumm Kenya featuring Cannonball. Includes 12-page booklet.

This is one of three albums made by one of the best formations led by saxophonist Julian 'Cannonball' Adderley during his whole career. This 'Cannonball' Adderley Quintet included his brother Nat Adderley on cornet, pianist Junior Mance, bassist Sam Jones and drummer Jimmy Cobb. Together they made the classic LPs Sophisticated Swing, Cannonball Enroute and the present album Cannonball's Sharpshooters. The musical empathy between the two brothers was long standing: 'Nat and I played together for many years', explained Cannonball during a 1972 interview, 'and we developed lots of things, based on other people's material, and some ideas of our own. We were basically just simple players. We had never been exposed to the blood and guts, dog-eat-dog syndrome. We were just Florida guys. So we played a lot of blues, a lot of funk, a lot of gospel-sounding stuff, and cute things based on Bird and Dizzy, Bird and Miles, based on that feeling.' In addition to the seven tracks from the original album, the current CD also includes a long version of 'Fuller Bop Man' originally issued as part of an LP anthology of various artists and a reading of 'I'll Remember April' first included on the album Cannonball Enroute but recorded during the Sharpshooters sessions. Also added are all of the tracks featuring Cannonball from an album by Afro-Cuban star Machito titled Kenya.
