Songs is a series of studio recordings that place the emphasis squarely on melody and the free-flowing interpretive power of Mehldau, bassist Larry Grenadier and drummer Jorge Rossy.
In addition to several brilliant new Mehldau compositions, Songs features some truly visionary and unexpected musical selections, including Radiohead's "Exit Music (For A Film)" and Nick Drake's "River Man." Also, there's a fascinating version of "Young At Heart," in which the trio is joined by a pair of wind-up music boxes.
Brad has won numerous awards, including two in the most recent Down Beat critics' poll: Best Pianist and Best Acoustic Jazz Group in the Talent Deserving of Wider Recognition category.
