On this first album of the Stephan Plecher Trio the listener gets treated to a playful and uplifting musical journey. The first track Jungfernballet sets the tone. Jungfernballett means maiden’s ballet in English, and the song is fairytale-like. A story begins. Bert Joris’s gorgeous trumpet sound is so heart warming. The tune goes from reflective to really exciting!
The trumpet solo explains and tells, some phases flying upward and ending up there, some ending with a fermata. It is like story telling that swirls around and around, builds up with accents and scales and trills, then settles down only to start up again to even more excitement.

The flow of the entire recording is really ingenious!
