Jesienią 1999 roku producent i pasjonat dobrej muzyki Bernd Skibbe oraz jego żona Sabine Bachmann założyli wydawnictwo SKIP Records, które z czasem stało się jedną ( obok ECM, ACT czy ENJA) z najważniejszych oficyn fonograficznych w Niemczech. Przez dwadzieścia lat SKIP Records rozwinęło się w jedną z wiodących niezależnych wytwórni w Europie, z wyrafinowanym katalogiem, który zachwyca niezmiennie doskonałym doborem artystycznym i perfekcyjną technologią nagrywania. W katalogu oficyny jest ponad 150 tytułów rejestrujących zarówno jazz, world music oraz – jak mówi szef oficyny – „ wyrafinowany i ambitny pop”. W katalogu SKIP Records znalazły się doskonale sesje i albumy, których bohaterami są wybitni artyści, jak Mitchel Forman, Albert Mangelsdorff, Charlie Mariano, Peter Fessler, David Friedman, Karin Hammar, Tony Lakatos, Wolfgang Haffner, Wolfgang Schlüter, Tingvall Trio, Pee Wee Ellis, Omar Sosa, Susan Weinert, Joo Kraus, Emil Brandqvist, Paula Morelenbaum, Luka Bloom czy Simphiwe Dana. Nagrania ze znaczkiem SKIP Records cieszą się sporym uznaniem, pojawiają się na listach popularności oraz honorowane są licznymi nagrodami ( w tym prestiżową, niemiecką ECHO Jazz Preis).

Celebrując dwudziestolecie wytwórni Bernd Skibbe i Sabine Bachmann przygotowali w prestiżowej hamburskiej Laeiszhalle jubileuszowy koncert „20 Years Skip Records”. Na estradzie pojawiły się wielkie gwiazdy europejskiego jazzu i „flagowe” nazwiska oficyny: Omar Sosa, Tingvall Trio, Jo Krauss, Tony Lacatos, Emil Brandqvist Trio, Nina Attal, Caro Josee, Omar Rodriguez Calvo, Sandro Roy, Jurgen Spiegel, Tuomas A.Turunen, Peter Weniger oraz „nasz” Vladyslav Adzik Sendecki. Ten szczególny, wielogodzinny wieczór był popisem wirtuozerii muzyków, tworzenia nietypowych konfiguracji oraz wspaniałej muzyki. Teraz ( w limitowanej edycji ) pojawia się dwupłytowy album „The Concert – 20 Years Skip Records Live at Laeiszhalle Hamburg” dokumentujący tamten wieczór, szczególną, jubileuszową atmosferę oraz doskonałą muzykę.

SKIP RECORDS held a memorable concert at the Laeiszhalle in Hamburg, Germany in September 2019 to celebrate its birthday together with roughly two dozen of the label’s artists

The 3-hour, 20th birthday concert saw not one but 7 ECHO JAZZ prizewinners gathered onstage and evolved over the course of the evening into a concert event that spanned two decades as it presented the quality and diversity of the label to a highly receptive audience. This concert was decidedly one-of-a-kind not only due to the unique constellations that took place in the spotlights. As one example, percussionist Gustavo Ovalles guested with the Emil Brandqvist Trio and later on with Omar Sosa who, when it was time for his appearance, was accompanied in turn by Joo Kraus and Omar Rodriguez Calvo from the Tingvall Trio. Vocalist Caro Josée stepped in to join the Emil Brandqvist Trio and Joo Kraus, while top-tier saxophonists Tony Lakatos and Peter Weniger delivered no-holds-barred, sparks a-flying jazz in an “all-star formation” led by Boris Netsvetaev together with Brandqvist, Rodriguez Calvo and Ingolf Burkhardt. The funk flowing like lava in her voice, Nina Attal wowed the audience with a moving solo appearance, and Sandro Roy, an up-and-coming virtuoso on violin, conjured up wizardry and magic on the borderline between classical music and jazz, enhanced part of the time by his mentors Giovanni Weiss and Tony Lakatos. The duo comprised of Vladyslav Sendecki & Jürgen Spiegel delighted one and all with well-attuned improvisations. Yet another highlight was the performance by Martin Tingvall, both solo and together with the Tingvall Trio. The festive mood in the hall was heightened not only by an encounter with Ingolf Burkhardt on the trio’s signature piece, “Vägen”, but equally so in a session involving 18 musicians that ended with “Skansk Blues”. The audience was sent home with a touching version of “One Moment In Time” offered as a duo by Joo Kraus and Tuomas Turunen. The live recording being presented is a veritable parade of the greatest moments and lasts more than two hours.

SKIP RECORDS has decided to place the entire proceeds from this digital release at the disposal of the artists who performed on that evening so that their existential hardships are cushioned a bit during these times of the coronavirus – and also to take this opportunity once again to express the greatest respect and gratitude toward the artists.
