Indigo Trio, które tak naprawdę nie ma swojego lidera, wydało własnie swoją nową płytę, zatytułowaną "The Ethiopian Princess Meets The Tantric Priest". Skład jest wyśmienity, Nicole Mitchell na fletach, Harrison Bankhead na kontrabasie i fortepianie oraz Hamid Drake na perkusji frame drum/bębnie obręczowym. Po raz pierwszy triowy skład uzupełnia gość specjalny, francuski wirtuoz fletu Michel Edelin.
Formuła nie ulega radykalnej zmianie, wciąż mamy do czynienia z kontemplacyjnym, bogatym w folkowe elementy jazzem. Nicole Mitchell, fascynująca flecistka z Chicago, jest dostarczycielem połowy materiału na plytę, i tak jak w przypadku jej innych kompozycji wyrastają one z afro-amerykańskiego dziedzictwa kulturowego przefiltrowane przez współczesną wyobraźnię. Medytacyjna energia jest jednak budowana przez czterech instrumentalistów, więcej tu niuansów call and response, szczególnie w wydaniu dwójki flecistów. Arcyciekawie brzmi tutaj fortepian, na którym po raz pierwszy w zespole gra Harrison Bankhead, wprowadzenie instrumentu harmonicznego daje intrygujący efekt.

The sonic spheres the Princess and the Priest conjure - with wonderful support from bassist/pianist Harrison Bankhead and drummer Hamid Drake - are akin to what's born by a spirit of the air in congress with a guardian of the earth...
