Pianist David Virelles is a native of Cuba who's been based in Toronto for a number of years. This recording is the result of having won the GM Grand Prix du Jazz (the highest honour) at the Festival International de Jazz de Montreal in July 2006.

It's an exceptionally fine debut, and features his Quintet comprised of David Virelles, piano, Luis Deniz, alto saxophone, Devon Henderson, acoustic bass, Ethan Ardelli, drums, Luis Orbegoso, percussion.
