2007 digipak pressing. This CD compiles the first two LPs by the Chubby Jackson Big Band for the first time ever on one disc. The orchestra was obviously inspired by the Woody Herman herds in which many of the main performers on these sessions had played, including of course its leader Chubby Jackson and the outstanding trombonist Bill Harris. Whether under the direction of Woody Herman or under his own leadership, Chubby's best playing is heard on big band recordings. 17 tracks. Jazz Beat.
