The Core has played at Molde International Jazzfestival, Kongsberg International Jazzfestival and Oslo International Jazzfestival with guest artists such as Norwegian saxophonist Hakon Kornstad and the two Swedish saxophonists Per "Texas" Johansen and Jonas Kullhammar. Now the debut album "Vision" is finally out on Jazzaway records!
The band was formed by drummer Espen Aalberg back in 1999. He is the main composer of original material for the band. The band includes Kjetil Moster: tenor/soprano sax., Erlend Slettevold: piano, and Steinar Raknes: double bass.
In the last years The Core has become one of the most explosive live bands in Norway, and despite their traditional accoustic jazz quartet format, some critics has compared their energy with punk bands from the late 60's. The Core has definetly captured this energy on their debut album "Vision", and we are sure that the album will make people aware of their existence outside Norway too...
