Editor's info:
This Album, recorded in January 2003, represents some of the last playing of Denmarks greatest saxofonist Bent Jadig. Eventhough it was recorded a year and a half before his death in june 2004, there is no sign of weakness in Bent Jadigs playing on this recording. The music is superb and Bent Jadig plays some of his deepest and most soulfull solos. The quartet is co-lead by Kresten Osgood, one of the founding members of ILK and a hyperactive musician who has been making a name for himself playing anything from abrstract hiphop to jazz and improvised music. What makes this album so special is that it connects the great saxofone tradition, of which Jadig was such a beautiful and original eksponent, with 3 of Denmarks young and highly personal players. Together they bring another sensitivity to the material. This is the music of a working band who had been playing and rearsing for five years and finally got a chance to record the repetoire. The music is a mix of Bent Jadig originals and mostly rare songs and jazztunes from Jadigs legendary notebooks of music he had picked up over the years. There are stunning ballad performances like "When I Have You" or "Solitaire" and steaming hot bebop on "Rod´s Shtick". "Detour" shows another side of Bent Jadig as the quartet plays more abstract. Bent Jadig was hip to anywhere the music would take him and on this record he goes very far.
