A graduate of the music conservatory in Messina, he shows outstanding technical command and confident phrasing, is good at high-pitched notes and is suggestive and romantic in ballads. His vibrant, colourful sound is the firm foundation of this record, for which he wrote all of the pieces and put together an excellent line-up, a quintet in which he often plays duets with Daniele Tittarelli’s alto saxophone on the gorgeous rhythmic structures composed by Alessandro Lanzoni, Gabriele Evangelista and Francesco Ciniglio. Devoted to research and exploration, Presti draws on the past and time here is not the time mankind experiences but has different rhythms, colours, shapes. And gives rise to a unique, distinctive and genuine style that indelibly marks this work.
