Philippe Jaroussky - Wykształcenie muzyczne zdobywał w konserwatorium w Wersalu, gdzie studiował grę na skrzypcach i fortepianie, harmonię i kontrapunkt. W 1996 roku rozpoczął naukę śpiewu u Nicole Fallien, następnie kształcił się na wydziale muzyki dawnej w konserwatorium paryskim u Michela Laplénie, Kennetha Weissa i Sophie Boulin. Zadebiutował w roku 1999 na festiwalu w Royaumont partią w mało znanym oratorium A. Scarlattiego Sedecia, rè di Gerusalemme z Il Seminario Musicale i Gérardem Lesnem. Znakomite przyjęcie artysty przez publiczność i krytykę zaowocowało kontraktem z Virgin Classics. Nagrania dokonane dla tej wytwórni zdobyły liczne nagrody („Diapason d’Or”, „Choc du Monde de la Musique”, „Gramaphone Award”, „Echo Klassik Award”). Publiczność operową już wtedy zdumiewały jego wyjątkowe możliwości wokalne, kilka lat później docenione przez jury Victoires de la Musique Classique, które uznało go za operową rewelację roku 2004. Rok później zachwycił Paryż jako Rinaldo; za wielki sukces uznano recital Jaroussky’ego i zespołu Le Concert d’Astrée pod dyrekcją Emmanuelle Haïm, dedykowany słynnemu kastratowi Carestiniemu, zarejestrowany dla Virgin w roku 2007. Realizacja ta zdobyła „Midem Classical Award” (2009). Z tymi samymi muzykami Jaroussky dokonał nagrania arii barokowych Lamenti (nagroda „Victoires de la Musique” 2009). Rejestracje Teatro d’Amore z muzyką Monteverdiego i La dolce fiamma z zapomnianymi ariami dla kastratów J.Ch. Bacha od razu stały się bestsellerami.
W ostatnim czasie zmierzył się – w duecie z pianistą Jérômem Ducrosem – z interpretacją muzyki francuskiej przełomu XIX i XX wieku, czego owocem jest płyta Opium. Mélodies françaises. Szczególne miejsce w repertuarze wokalisty zajmują dzieła Handla, Vivaldiego, Pergolesiego i Monteverdiego. Regularnie współpracuje on z Jeanem Tubérym, Markiem Minkowskim, René Jacobsem, Fabiem Biondim i zespołami Ensemble La Fenice, Ensemble Matheus, Les Arts Florissants, Les Musiciens du Louvre czy Europa Galante. Jest współzałożycielem Artaserse Ensemble.
Koncertuje w największych salach operowych na całym świecie. W roku 2010 jury Victoires de la Mufot. Simon Fowler licensed to Virgin Classics sique Classique uznało go za artystę roku.


Założony w 2012 roku zespół Il Pomo d’Oro tworzą wybitni muzycy specjalizujący się w wykonawstwie muzyki na instrumentach historycznych. Dzięki znakomitemu połączeniu wiedzy o stylistyce epoki z najwyższym technicznym kunsztem i artystycznym entuzjazmem, zespół od początku swojej działalności plasuje się w światowej czołówce. Już pierwsze ich nagranie — Vivaldi, Per l’Imperatore — z Riccardo Minasim (dyrygentem i koncertmistrzem) podbiło serca wymagającej publiczności i zdobyło międzynarodowe uznanie krytyków. Mimo krótkiego stażu, zespół w swoim dorobku artystycznym ma już kilkanaście płyt. Koncertowali niemal w całej Europie z udziałem najbardziej uznanych solistów, m.in. Xavierem Sabatą, Franco Fagiolim, Kariną Gauvin czy Maxem Emanuelem Cenčićem. Co prawda specjalizują się w wykonawstwie muzyki operowej, ale swoje możliwości doskonale prezentują również w utworach instrumentalnych. Nazwa Il Pomo d’Oro odwołuje się do tytułu opery Antonia Cestiego skomponowanej z okazji ślubu cesarza Austrii Leopolda I z Małgorzatą Teresą w 1666 roku. Dziesięciogodzinne widowisko było prawdopodobnie największą i najdroższą produkcją operową w historii.

Riccardo Minasi — to jeden z najbardziej uznanych skrzypków specjalizujących się w grze na instrumentach historycznych. Występował z tak znakomitymi orkiestrami jak: Le Concert des Nations Jordiego Savalla, Accademia Bizantina, Concerto Italiano, Il Giardino Armonico, Al Ayre Español, Orchestra dell’Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia, Orquesta Sinfónica de Madrid, Concerto Vocale Renégo Jacobsa czy Ensemble 415, zarówno jako solista, jak i koncertmistrz. Minasi jest także doskonałym dyrygentem. Swoje możliwości z powodzeniem prezentuje niemal w całej Europie wraz z zespołem Il Pomo d’Oro, który prowadzi od 2012 roku. W swojej karierze współpracował m.in. z Orkiestrą i Chórem Opéra National de Lyon, Kammerakademie of Potsdam, Zürich Kammerorchester, Balthasar Neumann Ensemble, European Union Baroque Orchestra (EUBO) czy Il Complesso Barocco. W latach 2004-2010 był profesorem kameralistyki w Conservatorio V. Bellini w Palermo. Wykładał również w tak prestiżowych szkołach jak: Juilliard School of Music w Nowym Jorku, Longy School of Music w Cambridge (USA), Sibelius Academy w Helsinkach czy Chinese Culture University of Taipei (Taiwan). Dyrygował operami Il Matrimonio segreto Domenica Cimarosy w Zürich Opernhaus, Carmen Bizeta w Opéra National de Lyon i Rinaldo George’a Friderica Handla w Theater an der Wien. Odbył także tourne z Il Pomo d’Oro z operami Catone in Utica Leonardo Vinciego, Siroe Johanna Adolpha Hasse oraz Tamerlano, Serse i Partenope George’a Friderica Handla.

Handel’s sparkling opera Partenope reunites Erato’ star countertenor Philippe Jaroussky and the captivating Canadian soprano Karina Gauvin, who both made such an impact in the Erato recording of Steffani’s rediscovered opera Niobe, released in early 2015 and welcomed as a “landmark event” by Gramophone.

Jaroussky’s Erato catalogue is rich, varied and extensive – and this summer he appeared as Ruggiero in Handel’s Alcina in a spectacular new production at the Aix-en-Provence Festival – but it is some time since he last recorded a complete Handel opera for the label: Faramondo, which was released in 2009. If Faramondo remains something of a rarity on the world’s stages, Partenope – which offers plenty of comedy as Queen Partenope juggles an array of suitors – is a popular work, and in recent years has even enjoyed productions in such large theatres as the San Francisco Opera and English National Opera.

Jaroussky takes the role of Arsace, Prince of Corinth, while Karina Gauvin is Queen Partenope herself. She has superb credentials as a Handelian and has recorded Ariodante (with Joyce DiDonato and the late Alan Curtis) and Giove in Argo (with Ann Hallenberg and Curtis) for Erato. Gramophone has spoken of her “ideal Handelian mix of grace and profound emotional truth,” while the Sunday Times has praised her “glinting soprano, bright-edged yet deliciously rounded and sensual … used with rare understanding for character” and the “sculptural beauty” of her phrasing.

The conductor is Riccardo Minasi, who, with his ensemble Il Pomo d’Oro, also appears on Joyce DiDonato’s bel canto collection, Stella di Napoli and Edgar Moreau’s new Erato album Giovincello. Praising conductor and orchestra for their command of Handel’s operatic style, Forum Opéra has written: “A real drama unfolds from the overture onwards … The conductor brings true brio as he engages with Handel’s rhetoric … The players of Il Pomo d’Oro can switch in a moment from the role of interlocutor to commentator … Add to this a perfect mastery of the way the recitatives lead into the arias, and you have the formula for an approach that remains constantly fresh.”

The rich-voiced Italian mezzo-soprano takes the role of Rosmira – Arsace’s former lover, who is disguised as a man, Prince Eurimene – while the diamantine Hungarian soprano Emőke Baráth takes the role of a real man, Prince Armindo, who is in love with Partenope. “Supremely stylish” were the words used by the Telegraph to describe John Mark Ainsley when he sang Emilio (yet another prince seeking Partenope’s hand) at English National Opera, and the distinguished Italian bass Luca Tittoto brings authority to the role of Partenope’s advisor Ormonte.
