Listening UNTOLD STORY after thirteen years is very interesting and sounds like a kind of turning point in the path of Enrico Pieranunzi. His playing style here remains marked by a double legacy: the "hard bop" school and modal jazz, with its highly physical energy, of the "first" Pieranunzi, who accompanied American musicians passing through the Italian capital in the 1070s, then there is that fluid, mobile "tristanian" side that he surely inherited from Bill Evans, right up to the moment when the American pianist's inspiration was truncated in 1980.
