Brand Magazyn:

Editor's Info:
If Giovanni Guidi's musical works were a photo album, it would be staggering to see how each page and each photo is completely different from the other. At only 25 years old, the pianist from Foligno (Italy) impresses, in fact, for his courage and consciousness. On "We Don't Live Here Anymore", his fourth album recorded for CAM Jazz, Guidi claims once again with awareness and tenacity his desire to stay in the game. An album that catches you off-guard and that has nothing to do with his previous "Indian Summer", "The House Behind This One" or "The Unknown Rebel Band", because each time there's a different story to tell, a concept on which to design musical architecture, a moment in life that is embedded in the mind through the recording studio, as if it were a necessity.

This last work, recorded by the hand of the undisputed genius of sound engineer James Farber, in the famous Sear Sound Studios of New York, is an album that alternates compositions by Guidi and free improvisations, living and finding its form within the dialogue and the reciprocal listening of those musicians who the pianist wanted at his side. An impressive research on timbre and touch, of the piano first of all, which is transforming daily, not only in a sound, but in his own sound. Then there's the sound of the other Italian musician that Guidi called to joined him: Gianluca Petrella, who, besides being one of the most brilliant and ingenious artists in the circuit today, is becoming rightfully one of Guidi's privileged partners, sharing ever more frequently stages and projects. Not to mention the three Americans: Michael Blake, Thomas Morgan and Gerald Cleaver, musicians who we speak too seldom of here in Italy, but on the other side of the ocean they're taking the stage, establishing themselves in this new jazz generation as the most talented players of their respective instruments.
