opis:

Obdarzona wspaniałym głosem, znakomita interpretatorka szerokiego repertuaru muzyki jazzowej - od tradycyjnych ballad i standardów, poprzez swing i soul po współczesny jazz i funky. Dee Alexander wnosi w każdy rodzaj muzyki muzyczny pasję i miłość - co słychać w każdej, nawet pojedynczej nucie - tworząc własny, niepowtarzalny styl. Debiutowała w zespołach "Light" Henry Huffa - legendarnego, przedwcześnie zmarłego saksofonisty i współzałożyciela słynnego zespołu Ethnic Heritage Ensemble Kahil El Zabara. Na swoich koncertach chętnie wraca do tego okresu, popularyzując piękne, niesłusznie zapomniane kompozycje "Lighta". Udziela swojego głosu zarówno formacjom z kręgu awangardy chicagowskiej - Great Black Music Ensemble, 8 Bold Souls. Prowadzi własny projekt Evolution Ensemble z którym, po raz pierwszy w Europie, koncertowała w Poznaniu na festiwalu Made in Chicago 2006. Śpiewała na płytach Malachi Thompsona. Współpracuje z Douglas Ewart's Inventions /w Poznaniu na festiwalu Made in Chicago 2007/ oraz Nicole Mitchell w zespołach Black Earth Ensemble i Harambee /na festiwalu Made in Chicago 2006/. "Sirens of Songs", niezapomniany projekt poświęcony pamięci Dinah Washington i Niny Simone, Dee Alexander prezentowała w grudniu 2009, z udziałem chóru gospel i kwartety smyczkowego, najpierw na Made in Chicago w Poznaniu, miesiąc później na prestiżowym festiwalu Sons d'Hiver w Paryżu.

Jej album "Wild Is The Wind" uznano za jedną z najlepszych płyt dekady i nagrodzono 5 gwiazdkami w prestiżowym miesięczniku Down Beat.
